![]() ![]() He was born July 19, 1939 in Radnor Township to the late Charles W. and Iva E. (Hughes) Hempy. He was also preceded in death by two sisters. Bob was a lifelong farmer. He had worked at the Whirlpool Corp. in Marion for 38 ½ yrs. He was a member of the Prospect American Legion Post #368. Bob was also a member of the Marion Lodge #70 F & AM. Bob loved to fish at local farm ponds in the area. He was known for making his own beef jerky, hosting summer fish frys and corn roasts. When he wasn’t enjoying his wife’s cooking at home, he made the trip to Bucyrus to get his favorite pizza at Bakers. He got great enjoyment out of watching his grandkids play sports. He loved his OSU Buckeye football. Surviving is his wife, Phyllis (Henry) Hempy, they were married August 26, 1977. Also surviving are his children, Daniel (Tracy) Hempy of Caledonia, Cindy Hempy of Columbus, Ivy (Steven) Brown of Westerville and Richard “Dick” (Debbie) Hempy of Waldo Stepchildren, Daryl B. Shepherd of Marion, Douglas (Colleen) Shepherd of Waldo and Travis (Jennifer) Shepherd of Worthington 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren Siblings, Paul E. (Ruby) Hempy of Prospect and Dixie Dienst of Delaware Family and Friends are invited to join and celebrate Bob's Life on Thursday August 15, 2024 from 3 to 7 pm at the Shepherds home, 966 Prospect Mt.
