Robert “Bob” Michael Schmelzer, 82 of Richwood, met his Lord and Savior on Thursday morning, November 13, 2025 at his home. Robert was born January 28, 1943 in Claibourne, to the late Robert William and Florine Joanna (Mathys) Schmelzer.  He was also preceded in death by his wife Sharon Faye (Riley) Schmelzer of 51 years, they were married July 2, 1963 and she died June 24, 2015; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Harold Blanton, Richard and Jennie Riley, Robert and Wanda (Riley) Long, Joseph and Hazel (Riley) Temple,  Edwin and Nina (Riley) Whitt, Rebecca (Riley) Thompson, His education was at the North Union School. Bob worked for 13 years at the Mills Chevrolet garage as a mechanic in Richwood. He retired from Marion Whirlpool in 2008 after 32 years. Bob taught Sunday school from young children to young adults for 25 years.  He and his late wife taught together at the Home Missionary Holiness Church, and State Street CCCU. Years later they attended Marion First Nazarene. During covid Bob began attending Heritage Bible Church. Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his sons Michael Allen (Rhonda) Schmelzer of Richwood, Kevin Eugene (Lovetta) Schmelzer of Marion; 6 Grandchildren Ashley Schmelzer, Shaynna (David) Butcher, Paul Schmelzer, Pamela Schmelzer (John Neidhart), Jaron (Janna) Schmelzer, Chelsey (Nate) Jones; 10 great grandchildren Andrew Hodges, Tucker Hodges, Preston Schmelzer, Gabriel Schmelzer, Riley Jones, Aaden Krohmer, Avery Jones, Emery Jones, Samantha Butcher, Jonah Jones; Sister, JoNeil Schmelzer of Richwood, Niece and Great Nephew, April Blanton and Cody Yates of Richwood, Brother-in-law Brent Thompson of NC, his partner in crime and companion Penny (black lab), and  host of family and friends. Private family services will be held. Burial will follow in the Claibourne Cemetery. The Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home is assisting the family.
