 Elma Parish, 86 of Richwood, died peacefully Friday March 21, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 11, 1939 in Marion to the late Clifford and Helen (Hitt) Tanner, she was also preceded in death by her second mom, Vera (Erwin) Tanner. Also preceding her in death was her husband and high school sweetheart, Harold “Hal” Parish, they were married September 24, 1959 at the Essex United Methodist Church and he died June 11, 2016. She was also predeceased by a sister, Jan (Don) Smith; brother-in-law, Gene (Harriet “Dinnie”) Parish, and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Parish.
She and Hal raised their family in Upper Arlington and then Dublin, where they remained until Hal retired in 1995 and they moved back to Richwood.
Elma retired as an LPN. She had worked at OSU in the baby nursery, at Grady Memorial Hospital in surgery, at the Columbus Cancer Clinic and also in home care. She was a true person of giving, using her talents and compassion for the care of others.
Elma was a dedicated member of the Grace Community Fellowship in Radnor. She had a passion to share the Gospel. Elma had recently gone on a mission trip to help others and was looking forward to her next chance to go!
She had a special spot in her heart for children, whenever she was around them, she would light up.
Elma also loved her life on the family farm, she spent many hours taking care of her pets (goats, cats, birds and more).
She is survived by daughter, Cheryl Launer, Columbus and her children, Natalie Webster (Brandon) and Nathan Launer (Jennifer); sons, James C. (Estela) Parish, Delaware and their children, Dahkota (Emma), Ileana, Luke Parish, Isabela (Justin) and Catherine Parish; Brent (Brenda) Parish, Brookfield, Massachusetts and their children, Emily (Matt) and Alec (Ella) Parish, Justine (Matt) Isakson, Caity (Steve) Buckley, Amanda and Julia McElroy; and grandchildren Leigh Anne and Joel (Keirstan Schiedeck) Diener, children of Amy Diener;
sister, Nancy (Marvin) Shuster and brother Larry (Carol) Tanner; brother-in-law, Bruce (Patricia) Neumann.
Roommate and dear friend, Janet Schertzer.
Also, many nieces and nephews.
Services celebrating her life will be held Tuesday March 25, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Grace Community Fellowship in Radnor. Pastors Joe Couch and Reed Rideout will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service beginning at 10 am at the church.
Private burial will take place in the Price Cemetery at a later date.
The Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home is assisting the family.

My condolences to Elma's family. Her beautiful smile was contagious! I always enjoyed talking with her. Elma always had a kind word for everyone she met. Rest in peace dear friend.

Your mom was so loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her! Her energy, passion, and love for our savior, Jesus, and her family was an example to us all. She will be missed here in this world, but we rejoice that she is with our Lord and Hal!

Cheryl, Natalie, Nathan and family,
We are so sorry to hear of the passing of your special Mom and Grandma. She is such a kind beautiful soul. Ill always remember how precious Natalie’s wedding was on her Grandma’s beautiful farm, and how Grandma made the gorgeous cake. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
