Michael Gene Kater
Michael Gene KaterFlagMichael “Gene” Kater, 74 of Columbus, died Friday, March 7, 2025 at Norwich Springs Health Campus in Hilliard.

He was born January 13, 1951 in Marion to the late Kenneth and Verla (Holdbrook) Kater. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Carrie (Taylor) Kater and Almander and Norah (Young) Holbrook; sisters, Kathryn Kater Carter, Ruby Kater Robinson; and a brother, Jerry Kater.

Gene was a graduate of Buckeye Valley High School in Delaware and served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps in Vietnam and South Korea.

He is survived by his wife, Ling Fang; a son, Erik Kater, Bellefontaine; brothers, Bryce Kater, Worthington; Johnnie Kater, Marengo; Ronnie Kater, Richwood; sisters, Karolyn Frasure, Marion; Bonnie Newland, Ostrander; brother-in-law, Don (Dorothy) Carter, Carey.

Private graveside services will be held at Price Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Webb officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #1095, Delaware and the USMC.
