Edward L. Dotson
Edward L. DotsonFlagEdward L. Dotson, 86 of Marysville, formerly of the Byhalia area, died Saturday March 1, 2025 at the Memorial Hospital in Marysville.

He was born January 8, 1939 in Logan County to the late Austin and Bernice (Bailey) Dotson. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Earnie Dotson, Elmo “Bo” Dotson, Edmund “Ted” Dotson, Gene Dotson, Edsel Dotson, Midge Frey, half-sisters, Edythe Prater, Essie Legg and Ellaree Stettler.

Ed appreciated growing up on the family farm. He loved being outside and always being busy. He graduated in 1957 from Byhalia-York High School. Ed then served our country in the United States Army. He retired in 1997 from the O.M. Scotts Company in Marysville as a Regional Sale Manager. This job took him all over the country.
Ed was very meticulous about his home and property. He built his own home and enjoyed taking care of his flowers.
Ed was the family historian; he spent many hours studying the genealogy of his family and was gracious about sharing his knowledge. He was also instrumental in keeping the Dotson family reunion going.
But his greatest joy came from being a grandpa.

On January 6, 1961 in Byhalia, he married Bernice “Kay” (Jolliff) and she survives. Also surviving are their children, Jody (Daniel) Rettig of Byhalia and Brody Dotson of Maryville
Granddaughter, Kassidy Rettig
Siblings, Ethel “Mae” Weydert, Elaine Mohler, Larry (Barb) Dotson, Alva (Elaine) Dotson, Evelyn “Sue” (Butch) Bible, Gary (Regina) Dotson and Robert (Louisa) Dotson.
In-laws, Patsy Dotson and Roxie Dotson
Many nieces and nephews and extended family

Funeral services will be held Friday March 7, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood. Brad Cramer will officiate. Burial will follow in the Byhalia Cemetery, where there will be Military Honors given by the Vietnam Veterans of America #1095. Friends may call Thursday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home in Richwood.

So very sorry for your loss. Edward was a much loved cousin and true friend. We first met about 5 years ago and hit it off from the start. We  have worked together on our Dotson family history and genealogy since. I am going to really miss our conversations. He was really passionate about our Dotson family, as am I. I hope and pray that The Good Lord blesses his family. Michael Dotson. He called me his Mississippi Dotson.
