Richard Roberts

Richard Roberts, 82 of Prospect, died Sunday June 26, 2022 at the Marion General Hospital. He was born June 15, 1940 in Marion to the late Paul F. and Phyllis (Hughes) Roberts, he was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Reed Roberts, wife, Eulah (Collins) and wife, Karen (Downard) and a sister, JoAnne Moser. Richard graduated in 1958 from the Prospect High School, where he played baseball and in 1955 they won the Central District Championship. He was also a member of the Prospect Baptist Church. An electrician by trade, he had worked at W.H. Sammis/Ohio Edison plant in Stratton, Ohio and also at the former Eaton plant in Marion. Richard enjoyed watching Nascar, his favorite drivers were the Earnhardts (Sr. and Jr.). He also loved his OSU Buckeyes, going to the beach, attending classic car shows and taking pictures. Richard loved life, he never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Surviving is his wife, Rose (Ridge) Roberts, his children, Cheryl (Ralph) Miley, Kim (Scott) Hetzinger and Mary (Dave) Poling Grandkids, Ryan Miley, Misty (Ritchie) Burton, Kyle Rager, Aaron and Jacob Poling Great grandkids, Austin and Ashlee Hernandez, Alexis Burton and Lexi Rager Funeral services will be held Thursday June 30, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Prospect, Pastor Deb Moreland will officiate. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery with Pastor Dwight Cimino officiating the committal. Friends may call one hour prior to the service beginning at 10 am at the funeral home in Prospect.
