Margaret Ann Smothers Hood

Margaret Ann Smothers Hood, 78 of Lakeview died Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine.  She was born December 17, 1936 in Marion to the late Lester and Margaret McCombs (Stark) Smothers. On January 26, 1957 she married Eugene Hood and he died May 30, 1991.  She was also preceded in death by a son, Louis “Skip” Hood; a daughter, Judy Hood; two brothers, Kenneth “Kenny” Smothers, Lester H. Smothers, Jr. She was a homemaker and loving mother.  A 1955 graduate of Byhalia High School, she had been a member of the former Central United Methodist Church in Richwood. She is survived by a daughter, Kathy Hood Dolan, Lakeview; two sons, Greg (Katrina) Hood, Sr., Houma, Louisiana; Mark (Laura) Hood, Dublin; 13 grandchildren, Matthew “Matt” Hood, Bellefontaine; Rebecca “Becky” Hood, Houston, Texas; Tommy Dolan, Lakeview; Jewel “Jill” Robichaux, Bayou Blue, Louisiana; Gregory C. (Corie) Hood Jr., Houma, Louisiana; Opal (SSG Ryan) Chiasson, Schriever, Louisiana; Clint (Lilly) Hood, Odessa, Texas; Ben (Duhan) Hood, Columbus; Devon (Tess) Hood, Dublin; Samantha Hood, Dublin; Braxton Hood, Bellefontaine; Ashleigh Hood, Dublin; Charles “PJ” Ooten, Dublin; sixteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Diana, Linda and Brenda; and a brother, Larry Smothers. Private graveside services will be held at a later date at the York Cemetery.  The family is being assisted by Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood.
