Gerald “Gary” Ledley
Gerald “Gary” LedleyRichwoodGandGGerald “Gary” Ledley, 68 of Richwood, died unexpectedly Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital after suffering from diabetes for the past eighteen years, and is now free from pain.  He was born September 7, 1945 in Marion to the late Everett and Lucille (Stout) Ledley.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Larry Ledley, and his sister, Dixie Ledley.

He married the former Lynne Glass on September 10, 1967 in the Richwood Church of Christ, and she survives in Richwood.

A 1963 graduate of Richwood High School, he served in the U. S. Army Reserves from 1966 to 1973.  He worked for the Union County Engineer for twenty years, working his way up from truck driver to county road superintendent.  He owned and operated Fulton Creek Sporting Goods for several years and retired from MAI Manufacturing.

Gary loved growing up on a farm, and after six years of marriage, convinced Lynne, a town girl, to move to the country, and they’ve lived there ever since.  Over the years, he had raised goats, chickens, sheep and had a horse or two.   He loved to grow things in his vegetable garden, as well as his flower garden and planted many trees at home.  For many years they celebrated the major holiday family get-togethers at their home as he enjoyed the nieces and nephews exploring the farm on the gator or golf cart.

As he was growing up, he learned at a very young age from his father how to hunt, trap, coon hunt and fish and continued doing these things until his health declined.  He and his father shared a love of guns and ran a gun shop part time for many years.

He was a charter member of the Richwood Gun & Game Club.  He was also a charter member of the former Richwood Anglers to promote and stock the fish at the Richwood Lake.  He served a term on the Richwood Fair Board.

He is survived by his half-sister, Bonnie (Paul) Obenour, Marion, and their son, Jim (DAnn) Riley, Canal Winchester, and their daughter, Lisa (Dave) Lehman, Upper Sandusky and numerous great-nieces and nephews; his nephew, Chris (Deb) Ledley, Marysville and their children, Corbin & Cole Ledley, and Tyler & Kelsi Wade; His nephew, Jason (Laura) ledley, Raymond and their daughters, Jordan and Leah; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nancy (Jim) Wiley, Richwood and their children, Chad Wiley, Marysville; Kyle (Emily) Wiley, Richwood, and Lindsey (Zach) Welch and their children, Cheyenne & Collin, Richwood; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary (Lois) Glass, Richwood and their children, Christopher & Leigh Ann; and his faithful lab companion, Prowler.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Matthew Craig officiating.  Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery.  Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home in Richwood.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Richwood Gun & Game Club, P. O. Box 112, Richwood, OH  43344.
