Louis W. Welch

Louis W. Welch, age 68 of Marion died Tuesday evening, March 20, 2012 at Marion General Hospital after a brief illness.  He was born November 26, 1943 in Springfield to the late Herbert and Dorothy (Campbell) Welch. He had worked at Whirlpool for over 40 years, retiring in 2009 as a receiving clerk.  A veteran of the U. S. Army, he was a member of American Legion Post 162 in Marion.  Louis loved watching NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt Jr., and he enjoyed woodworking, traveling and picking on his brothers-in-law. He is survived by a daughter, Shannon Vera, Marion; two sons, James (Maria) Bibler, Illinois; Jon (Tami) Bibler, Marion; a brother, Gary (Lynn) Runyon, Mansfield; four sisters, Patricia (Curtis) Lester, Marion; Earthel Welch, Mansfield; Carolyn (Robert Jr.) Howald, Richwood; Vickie Conaway, Mansfield; grandchildren, Monica (Daniel Ernst) Arce, Marbella Arce, Jason, Jeremy and Jenna Bibler; Alicia, Austin, Eli, Reid and Jonah; a great-granddaughter, Lillian, his former wives, Vonda Welch, Marion; Barb Welch, Illinois; best friends, Frank and Karen Kearns and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 24 at 12 noon in the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor David Aikens officiating.  Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the Marion County United Veterans Council.  Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home in Richwood.
