Josephine L. Rubeck |
 Josephine L. Rubeck, age 86 of Richwood, died Tuesday evening, January 19, 2010 at the Heartland of Marion. She was born May 7, 1923 in Newark to the late Fred and Mary (Ponser) Gebhart.
On May 1, 1946 she married Carl L. Rubeck in Newark and he died April 11, 1990.
She was a cook at Claibourne Elementary for over 20 years. Josephine was a devoted member of the former St. Joseph's Catholic Church in LaRue where she was a member of the Women's Guild. She was currently a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marion. She belonged to the Richwood Civic Center and its Kitchen Band, was active in Richwood and North Union Athletic Boosters and OCCL in Richwood. She enjoyed cooking, playing bingo and euchre and taking care of her family, especially her grandkids.
She is survived by three sons, Ron (Roberta) Rubeck, Richwood; Larry (Nancy) Rubeck, Raymond; Robert (Joyce) Rubeck, Lorain; two daughters, Judy Lawler, Richwood; Barbara (Bryan) Dusenberry, Howard, Ohio; a brother, Charles (Maxine) Gebhart, Newark; three sisters, Dorothy Tanner, Newark; Mary Rose Rubeck, Marion; Ursula Evans, Boone, Iowa; eight grandchildren and two great-granddaughters, sister in law: Cecilia Adams of Delaware.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Gebhart; sisters, Teresa Cost and Florence Gebhart; and a granddaughter.
Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 10:30 AM in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marion with Rev. Mark Hammond officiating. Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM on Friday in the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Rosary Services at 7:00 PM.

I've known Josephine since I was young girl and growing up with all of you at church..mom always said there was no one who could make a butterscotch pie except your mom...sorry for your loss...god bless you all

Just wanted to let you know how sorry I am for
your recent loss. Some of the best memories I
have of high school years involve playing basketball and ping pong at your house with the
Drodofskys. I also remember going hunting with
with your Dad and his beagles. Your house was
always a great place to be and your Mom was a
