E. Merle Lingo |
E. Merle Lingo 94, 376 E. Market St., LaRue, longtime businessman in the village, died Sunday afternoon Sept. 28, 1986 in Marion General Hospital. 1
He was born Jan. 17,1892, in LaRue, a son of Edward H. and Flora Amrine Lingo.
He was the 'owner-operator of the Handy Hardware Store of the E.H. Lingo Co., a position he had held for 62 years, and was a World War I veteran. Mr. Lingo wajs; a member of LaRue United Methodist Church, a former member and past'master of LaRue Lodge 463 F&AM, and a life member of Phillippi-Clerrient Post 101 of the Amer-, ican Legion, LaRue.
He married the former Lena Johnson Nov. 10,1919, and She died Dec. 3,1977.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lowell (Janet) Swartz, LaRue; a grandson, Maj. Frederick Swartz, Springfield;1 and three great-grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Stofcheck Funeral Home, LaRue, with the Rev. James Mason officiating. Burial will follow in LaRue Cemetery, (where military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. and in the evening Tuesday.
