Becky and family, I am so sorry for your great loss. I knew Greg from elementary years and baling hay on their land for my dad, Bill Thurston. Greg always had a smile, a laugh or an idea. He will be greatly missed. Praying for you to now the comfort only God can give.

My sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the Kimler family. Greg was a friend going back to our "Ashley" days. We grew up close to each other and worked together for a short time. He was a great guy and good friend. He will be missed

Becky and Ryan, you are in our prayers during this difficult time. Praying God will give you strength and hope in this valley. You have been through so much recently and God knows and cares. I have never met you but Greg was a classmate of mine (Kathy) at Ashley and Buckeye Valley. I was the other half of the "Thurston twins". Greg was a joy to be around. We will miss his laughter and twinkle in his eyes - we had a lot of fun in band. Recently we moved back to the Ashley area and go by his old homestead often. I was also reminded of his sports car he had in high school. He took such good care of it and loved it. But I am sure he loved his family even more than any car:)

The greatest man I have ever known. A great friend, husband, and father. I could only dream of being like him. His knowlege of many things was something that I was in awe of. I am so sorry Becky and Ryan. I will miss him forever.

Greg and I lost contact after high school, but I have to share one of the funniest experiences I ever had and a story I have retold dozens of times over the years. About 1975 Buckeye Valley was preparing to play Dublin High School. On the marching band practice field our band director, the loved and respected but firmly serious Larry Lucas, was lecturing the band about the upcoming contest. At the time Dublin was a small community with a tiny high school and a very inferior marching band. Mr. Lucas was telling us to show appreciation and respect for their band, no matter how they performed.
At the end he said something like, “And you know, Dublin isn’t as small as they used to be, that city is actually starting to grow”. At which point from somewhere in the trumpet section, Greg yelled out “Yes, their population is Dublin!”. While the entire band was rolling on the ground laughing, I saw Mr. Lucas put down his megaphone, turn his back to the band, and let out a laugh that made the ground shake.
Greg may have been the only person in history to make Mr. Lucas laugh. He sure made me laugh a hundred times. Rest in peace.
