Raymond L. Shaw
Raymond L. ShawBlockORaymond L. Shaw, 74, of Richwood, formerly of Chicago IL, Clyde OH, Delphos OH, and
Laurinburg NC, died Sept 23,2016 surrounded by family at Grant Medical Center from a sudden downturn after an extended illness.

Born March 20, 1942 in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Wilfrid Henson and Mary Margaret Shaw.

On September 18, 1965 he married Kathleen (Myers) Shaw in St. Mary Church in Marion.

He is preceded in his death by his mother and father, brothers, Joseph and Neil and his wife Kathleen.

Ray is survived by seven children, Karen (Ed) Waldo of LaRue, Tim (Sharon) Shaw of Lancaster, Angie (Mark) Allen of Yelapa, Mexico, Laura (Jon) Conrad of Columbus Grove, Marianne (Brian) Van Voorhis of Reynoldsburg, John (Andrew Ross) Shaw of Columbus and Jason (Hilary) Shaw of Raleigh, NC; 12 grandchildren, Brett Wiechart, Josh Reel, Joe Schmitz, Jenna Reel, Miranda Allen, David Shaw, Gabriella Larschied, Ben Waldo, Luke Waldo, Avery Van Voorhis, Grace Waldo and Harper Shaw; three great-grandchildren, Makena Germann, Jaxon Germann, and Oliver Reel; siblings Charlotte (Ray) Bieter, Steve (Jan) Shaw, Nick (Ellen) Shaw, Dan (Rhonda) Shaw, and Greg (Celia) Shaw.

A proud and devoted 50-year alumni of The Ohio State University, he attended many football games with family and friends. Ray was a caring husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, son, and friend.

After his career in several food processing plants, his time was occupied with odd jobs: trenching, woodworking, delivering livestock, transporting goods and being a driver for local Amish friends. A loyal member of Immaculate Conception Church in Kenton, his faith guided and supported him and his family through many challenges in his life. He valued time spent with family and was always willing to lend a helping hand or share a good story.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday September 29, 2016 at 10:30 am at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kenton with Rev. Jeffrey Tigyer officiating, Private burial will take place later that day in the Price Cemetery, Friends may call Wednesday from 3-7 pm at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood, where a Rosary service will be held at 7:00 pm.

Memorial gifts may be made to St. Vincent De Paul, c/o Immaculate Conception Church, 215 East North Street, Kenton, OH  43326

RIP my dear friend...hate to hear of your passing but, now I'm sure you and Kathy are in each others arms once again and happy...to your children and all family always enjoyed talking with Ray after church or looking over and high five him during greeting him...my god give you all the strength to get thru this and know that your mom and dad are together again in gods arms

Ray was like a father to me! He was a champion, but God had a different plan for him.

So very sorry to hear if Ray's passing. Ray never knew a stranger, and greeted everyone with a ready smile, and his gift of gab. He will be dearly missed.

Your dad was a very wise man.  Family is the most important part of your life.  Your parents raised a beautiful family and I am sure they are so proud of what all of you have accomplished.   Sending my prayers and love to help you keep great memories alive.

Dearest Shaw Family,
We were so saddened to hear the news and send our deepest condolences for your father, Ray.  We have many fond memories growing up with you on Avers Avenue in Midlothian. It gives us comfort knowing that our dad, Charlie and your mom, Kathy were awaiting Ray's heavenly entrance. Great friends from long ago are finally reunited.
