Please accept our family's deepest thoughts, prayers and sympathy to all of you at this sad time.  We also wish each of you the comfort of happy memories.

By way of explaining our connection with Tom,
please know that our father, the late Chester ('Chet') Baker was a regular patron of Shields'
Pharmacy at its Stocksdale/Community Market Plaza location on London Avenue in Marysville, Ohio.  We fondly and particularly appreciate the courtesy and patience that Tom and his pharmacy associates extended to our father, particularly during his 'declining year.'

Sarah and family, I'm so deeply grieved in your loss of Tom as I considered him one of my best friends. We always had a super relationship and will never forget my round of golf with him at the Cascades golf course in Jackson, Michigan where he won my golf clubs and bag but settled for my jigger.
I always loved chatting with Tom at Marion Prescription. I would ask the girls if Tom was working and if it was OK for me to go back and wake him up. I loved the guy.

To the Shields family,
Richard and I want you to know how much we enjoyed being friends with Tom for so many years.  Way back in the 50's we were a bowling team called "Tom, Dick, and Honeys".  We weren't wonderful, but we had fun!  Of course, the years that we had our euchre club were wonderful - lots of laughs and good fun.  I was Tom's next door neighbor on the Kinney Pike and we had many days of playing with my family and Charlotte and him.  When he was too young to have a license I used to drive him on his scooter to go to see Sara or just to run around.  He loved to tease me whenever he had the chance.  I used to be able to wrestle him and win with Charlie cheering me on!  Those were the days! It's fun to be able to remember those good times!  God bless all of you!  Doris Griffith

How do you condense this?  He was a self made man.  A man of science.  Oh my God, he was so funny.  A friend to so many people.  Very giving of his time and talents to the people of Richwood and the schools.  He lived a very good life.

Dear sweet Sara and family, I am so sorry. Mr. Shields was a nice, kind, fun man. I didn't know him well, but I really enjoyed being around him. I'll never forget spending Halloween with you all.  He was welcoming and enjoyed entertaining the children (all those boys)!  The first time I met him, he couldn't understand a word I said because of my southern accent.  I was talking with him, and when I finished, he looked at Carolyn and said, "I didn't understand a word she said"!  We laughed and laughed about that. Please, know that I am thinking of you all and praying for you. 🙏
