RICHWOOD — Florence E. Ransome, 107, died Wednesday January 17, 1996 at Heartland Nursing Home, Marysville. She was a former resident of the Richwood area.
Born Nov. 3, 1888, in Essex, she was the daughter of the late Abaelino W. and Matilda Isabella (Park) Kile.
On June 17, 1923, she married Walter B. Ransome, and he died March 28, 1939.
The retired school teacher taught for 30 years in the Union and Marion county school systems, retiring from Essex Schools. She was a member of Essex United Methodist Church, its United Methodist Women, Richwood Garden Club, Union County Retired Teachers Association and National Hemerocallis Society.
She is survived by a son, Ben Ransome, Richwood; a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Ruth) Simmons, Richwood; a stepdaughter, Rachel Newhouse, Richwood; 11 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren, three step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Abram Ransome; a stepdaughter, Mary Ransome; a brother; two sisters; and a grandson.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Essex United Methodist Church with the Revs. Carman Minarik, C.L. Fuqua and Harley Roston officiating. Burial is in Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Stofcheck Funeral Home.
