Charles W. "Bill" Davis
Flag Charles W. "Bill" Davis, 81, of Richwood, died Sunday morning, June 4,2006, at the Ohio State University Medical Center.
He was a retired fireman, working at the GSA Depot in Marion for 22 years. He also worked many years for the Ballinger Carpet Shop and Ballinger Funeral Home.
A 1943 graduate of Richwood High School, he was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the European Theater.
He was very active in the Richwood community, serving with many organizations, including as member and treasurer of the former Richwood Lions Club, co-founder and original member of the Richwood emergency squad, squad leader of the Richwood emergency squad, assistant fire chief of the Richwood Fire Department, co-owner of JDJ Stable, treasurer of the Richwood Matinee Club, member of the Ohio Harness Horse Association and United States Trotting Association, former Richwood Civic Center board member, member of the men's breakfast at the Civic Center, Richwood VFW Post 870 and American Legion Baccarat Post 40, both of Richwood, former Richwood Village Council member and treasurer of the Richwood Fire and EMS Association.  He was born March 31,1925, in Somersville, to the late Charles Foster and Flora Leora Kramer Davis. He also was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters, Earl Davis, Joe Davis, Martha McBride and Helen Smith.
On June 8,1947, at Richwood First Baptist Church, he married Dottie J. McElroy and she survives. Also surviving are their children, Kathie (Donnie) Pfister, Billie (Paul) Jordan, Steven (Carissa) Davis and James (Debbie) Davis, all of Richwood, Lisa (Gary) Kellogg of Prospect, and Amy (Carmen) Davis of Columbus; grandchildren, Wendy Graham, Eric Mannasmith, Scott Jordan, Paula Parker, Christa Williams, Cory Davis, Fred Davis, Etta Jean Davis, Jessica Kellogg, Rachel Kellogg, Joe Davis and Abby Davis; great-grandchildren, Stacy Pfister, Erica Pettry, Austin Mannasmith, Alec Mannasmith, Alan Michael Jordan, Hayden Jordan, Tasha Tanner, Kinsey Burkard, Kylee Burkard, Logan Williams, Morgan Parker and Brandon Williams; one great-great-granddaughter, Izzy Pfister; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 pan. at Stofcheck Funer-al Home, Richwood, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 am. Burial will be in Ciaibourne Cemetery. The Rev. Fred Cheney will officiate.
Memorial donations may be made to the North Union Veterans Memo-ial and/or the Northern Union County Fire and EMS Association.
